These beautiful blue-and-white beads came from a complex necklace that had broken and ended up as part of a job lot of preloved jewellery.

The original piece had been made using beads in several different sizes, and by the time it reached me, some were still attached while others had already come loose.

What I loved immediately was their colouring. The soft blue mottling against the white gives them the look of delicate blue-and-white china β€” almost as though they should be fragile β€” yet they were simply waiting for a new way to be worn.

I gathered together a selection of the surviving beads and restrung them onto jewellery elastic to create this simple stretch bracelet, letting their beautiful pattern take centre stage.

A broken necklace has become something new, while still carrying a little Porcelain Echo of the piece it once was.

Lovingly rescued and reimagined from a preloved piece.
