Double Take

These striking wooden hoops have a rather unexpected past — they originally formed part of a preloved belt.

Once removed from their original setting, the wooden components had wonderful shape, warmth and movement of their own. Rather than seeing belt decoration, I could see the makings of a fabulous pair of earrings.

For Double Take, I've brought two of the reclaimed wooden hoops together on each earring, allowing the different sizes to hang freely and creating a bold-looking design that's actually extremely lightweight to wear.

I've finished them with brand-new gold-tone earring hooks, giving these rescued wooden components a completely different purpose — and somewhere altogether new to hang!
